After requests, I have decided to add a How-To on how I cut my paper to find the right size flower for my pomanders. Finding the right size was definitely my biggest struggle so I sincerely hope that people will find this helpful. In the end, I cut my paper to 4" x 3 3/4" and I bought my tissue paper at Hobby Lobby at $.99 for 10 sheets. For a 6" styrofoam ball, 8-9 pieces of tissue paper covers the whole ball. It could be more or less depending on how you space the flowers on your ball. The way I cut and utilized the paper, I was able to get 6 flowers from a single sheet of tissue paper. After cutting the paper, I used 5 sheets to make a single flower. I

Showing the original packaging was crucial because the way the paper was packaged played a major factor on how I cut my paper. You'll see why below!

Step One

Picture
Take one sheet of paper and lay it out flat. You'll noticed all of the folds in the paper due to the way it was packaged. I used these folds to my advantage. Notice the 2 folds furthest to the left. The 2nd fold is roughly 4" from the edge so I made my first real fold on this initial fold.

Step Two

Picture
I folded my first real fold on the 2nd fold on the left, as mentioned previously. Now use this first fold to guide your second fold for length.

NOTE: IF YOU WANT TO USE THE 4" X 3 3/4" SIZE, YOU CAN MEASURE 4" FROM THE FAR LEFT AND FOLD AT THAT MARK. ESSENTIALLY, YOU WILL GET THE SAME RESULT.

Step Three

Using your first fold as a guide, begin folding your paper accordion style.

Folding, folding, folding.

Step Four

This is how your paper should look when you can't fold any further.

Step Five

If you folded correctly, you find that you have small sliver of paper hanging out. Cut this off.

Step Five Cont.

The sliver cut off!

Step Six

Now unfold your paper and noticed your new folds that you just made.

Step Seven

Begin cutting on these lines to separate your pieces.

Step Eight

You should end up with 5 long strips.

Step Nine

Take one piece of paper.

Step Ten

Fold the paper in half.

Step Eleven

Now begin folding the paper into thirds.

Fold the other end over.

Step Twelve

This is what you should have after making your trifolds.

Step Thirteen

Unfold your sheet and notice your newly created lines.

Step Fourteen

Cut on these lines. You should end up with 6 small individual sheets of tissue paper. Stack 5 of these small sheets to begin your flowers!

**With the 5 long strips you originally cut, you can get 6 small sheets out of each long strip, which equals 30 small sheets total from 1 piece of your original tissue paper.  If you use 5 small sheets to make your flowers, you will make 6 flowers from 1 sheet of tissue paper.
